Building What Matters

THE PHILOSOPHY
The concept for AgriForaging began in 2011. It was built from lived experience inside regulated food systems, to close a structural gap in how producers navigate state and federal inspection.

Those producers include farmers, processors, butchers, value-added manufacturers, specialty food companies, restaurants, and businesses operating under state and federal inspection systems nationwide.

Years ago, while growing a food business, I learned what that gap costs in real time. The regulations were real. The expectations were justified. Public health matters. But the pathway was unclear. There was no meaningful translation layer. Growth exposed friction. Misalignment was expensive. And when support was most needed, it simply was not there.

Small producers were left to figure it out through failure.

That should not be the cost of ambition.

AgriForaging began because I could see what was missing and what was at risk if that gap remained.

This work has always been about protecting the ability for producers to grow, to process, to participate in regulated systems with confidence, and to contribute to communities across the country.

Since 2011, the years have reinforced one truth: infrastructure determines whether communities expand or shrink.

The next phase will continue to strengthen state and federal transitions, support export ready establishments, elevate environmental monitoring literacy, protect traditional methods through disciplined validation so they can continue to be practiced rather than rewritten, and expand access without lowering standards.

AgriForaging builds what holds, so that agriculture, producers, businesses, and communities stand.

Nicole Day, CEO
AgriForaging Compliance Services

I am Nicole Day, the Founder and CEO of AgriForaging Compliance Services, a food safety, regulatory, facility design, and operational consulting firm serving food businesses across the United States.

With more than 30 years of experience in entrepreneurship, operations, food production, and regulatory compliance, I work with slaughterhouses, processors, farms, cheesemakers, food manufacturers, restaurants, and specialty producers from early feasibility and facility design through HACCP, regulatory approval, startup, inspection readiness, and ongoing operations.

My work is grounded in the relationship between facility design and operational function. I help businesses translate product and process requirements into facilities and systems that support production, food safety, sanitation, regulatory compliance, humane handling, equipment and personnel flow, refrigeration, storage, utilities, and long-term growth.

I have extensive experience in USDA FSIS and FDA-regulated environments and brings together food safety, facility development, operations, and business decision-making. My approach goes beyond documentation, focusing on how the building, equipment, people, processes, and regulatory requirements function together in the actual production environment.

I lead a team with expertise in food safety, regulatory compliance, operations, and project coordination, supporting clients from planning through implementation and ongoing operations.

I founded AgriForaging in 2011 with the belief that compliance should not exist separately from operations. I also co-founded the national AskHACCP Hotline with Berkshire Agricultural Ventures, a free industry resource supporting food producers with practical food safety, HACCP, sanitation, processing, and regulatory questions.

My work and research also take her into food communities around the world, where I study traditional food practices, preservation methods, fermentation, salt exploration, and the relationship between place, process, and food culture.

AgriForaging does not just solve individual challenges. We build systems that hold.
